Description
CYMEL-325resin is a methyl etherified high imino trimer containing isobutanol
Cyanamide crosslinking agent.
CYMEL 325 resin is a methyl etherified high imino trimer containing isobutanol, Cyanamide crosslinking agent. CYMEL 325 resin is highly reactive and has the high self-condensation tendency makes the related film products have very good hardness, gloss, chemical resistance and outdoor durability. CYMEL 325 resin is suitable for all kinds of solvent-based or water-based baking paints, such as coil and can coatings, automotive paints, and industrial baking paints.

CYMEL 325 resin is an effective crosslinker that can be used for backbone polymer resins containing hydroxyl, carboxyl and amide functional groups, such as alkyd resins, polyester resins or acrylic resins. Although the optimum amount of CYMEL 325 resin should be determined experimentally, a ratio of 25% to 35% based on resin solids is typically the most Effective.
The CYMEL 325 resin can achieve effective curing without the need for the addition of an acid catalyst to the formulation. In most cases, the acidity of the backbone polymer in the formulation is sufficient to catalyze the curing reaction under normal baking conditions (15-20 minutes at 120-150 ° C.). If catalyst addition is desired, it is recommended to add 0.5-1.0% CYCAT ® 296-9 catalyst of total resin solids content.
The stability of a solvent-based system containing CYMEL 325 resin can be improved by the addition of a primary alcohol, an amine, or a combination of the two. Low molecular weight primary alcohols(such as ethanol and n-butanol) are the most effective. Recommended amines are triethylamine (TEA), dimethylethanolamine (DMEA) or 2-amino-2- methyl-1-propanol (2-AMP), Which is added at a concentration of 0.5-1.0% of the total resin solids. In order to obtain optimum stability in aqueous systems, only tertiary amines should be used to maintain the pH between 7.5 and 8.5.
CYMEL 325 resin has a shelf life of 2 years from the date of manufacture and its corresponding storage temperature should be maintained between 5 -30 °C. Although lower temperatures do not affect The stability of CYMEL 325 resin, but its viscosity will increase, which may cause the resin to be difficult to pump or pour. The viscosity of the resin can be lowered again by heating, but care should be taken to avoid local overheating when heating, as this may lead to an irreversible increase in viscosity.
