Application Area of BYK 104s

Coating industry

Features and advantages

BYK-P104 s is particularly suitable for medium to high polar coating systems to prevent the floating color of titanium dioxide when mixed with color pigments. It has limited compatibility with gasoline solvents.

In many cases, corrosion protection is improved when used in preservative primers. BYK-P104 s also contains small amounts of polysiloxane copolymer to improve floating hair behavior.

This ingredient prevents the formation of the benard vortex, increasing the smooth and smooth surface, and the orientation of the extinction powder and aluminum powder pigments. In most cases, there is no need to add additional silicone additives necessary in conventional formulas.

Suggested dosage

The amount of additives (purchased form) is based on:

Inorganic pigment: 3-10% titanium dioxide: 0.5-2.5% organic pigments: 10-20%

The above recommended amount is for reference, and the optimal amount should be determined through a series of tests.

Add method and processing guidance

To achieve optimal performance, the additives must be added to the abrasives and then to the pigment.
